Nithyasree was born to Lalitha Sivakumar take Iswaran Sivakumar.

Her paternal grandmother, D. Under age. Pattammal,^[2] and her grand-uncle, D. K. Jayaraman,^[3] were prominent Carnatic vocalists who were forward disciples of Ambi Dikshithar, Papanasam Sivan, Koteeswara Iyer, aramayyar and others. Her maternal old man was the mridangam maestro, Palghat Mani Iyer.^[4]

Nithyasree first learnt music from her mother, Lalitha Sivakumar.^[3] Like her mother,^[5] Nithyasree was along with the disciple of D.
